The Agassiz Park Lodge is adjacent to the Riding Mountain National Park along Hwy#5.  Providing you a spectacular view of this natural Escarpment (highest point in Manitoba), right from your room!

Only minutes away from Mother Nature at it's finest, there are numerous year round outdoor recreational opportunities for the novice and seasoned enthusiast including; numerous walking, hiking, cycling, and backpacking trails.  Enjoy spectacular cross country skiing in the winter!  

If you are looking for something a little more relaxing, picnic at one of the many scenic viewpoints and enjoy the wildlife including numerous species of birds and small animals.

The closest entry point from the Agassiz Lodge is the East Gate, which has been designated a National Historic Site.  


Only minutes away from Agassiz Park Lodge is the town of McCreary golf course.  Featuring nine holes and a clubhouse which serves beverages and snacks.

A variety of rare birds have been spotted in the McCreary region, and this area is soon be designated an IBA (Important Bird Area).  Check out this list of over 380 bird species that have been spotted within the province of Manitoba.

Photographers and avid birdwatchers flock to the area from all over North America to get a glimpse of the many species specific to our region.  

Bring the binoculars, and the camera and be prepared to be amazed!


The Riding Mountain Park is filled with a variety of animals that can make a drive through the park very interesting.  

There are certain species that have been spotted in the region including; Deer, Lynx, Black Bear, Moose, Elk, Bald Eagle, Wild Canaries and much more!

Fishing in the area is a popular outdoor sport, with so many different lakes to choose from.  One can fish for a variety of different species.  Those most common in the area are; Pickerel, Northern Pike, Perch, and White/Rainbow Trout.  

So get the fishing rods ready and come on out for a weekend of great fishing!  The Lodge can provide you with a map outlining the different lakes.  Popular destinations include Dauphin Lake, Lake Katherine, Lake Manitoba, Clear Lake, Methley Lake, and Ochre Lake, all are within 40 minutes of the Lodge.

Provincial fishing licenses are required, and can be obtained from the gas bar next door to the Lodge.  If you have a large group make sure to ask about our special accommodation rates.

The finest Walking, Hiking, Mountain Biking & Backpacking Trails in Manitoba are within Riding Mountain National Park.

Choose from beginner to advanced, and take a new trail every day.  For those who wish to go "self-guided" the Agassiz Park Lodge has maps available for your reference.  A prepared lunch for the trails and drop off and pick up service (starting and finish points) may be arranged for a small fee when booked in advance.

Agassiz Park Lodge is located only a short drive away from a number of different lakes and beaches.  Open May to September long weekend, you can enjoy swimming, sunbathing, sailing, jet skiing, boating and more.  The Lakes closest to the Lodge are;

  • Lake Manitoba - Approx. 30 minutes

  • Dauphin Beach - Approx. 40 minutes

  • Methley Beach - Approx. 50 minutes

  • Ochre Beach - Approx. 35 minutes

  • Clear Lake (Park) - Approx. 40 minutes

  • Lake Katherine - Approx. 30 minutes

  • Whirlpool Lake - Approx. 30 minutes
